VP of Software Engineering
We are partnering with a high potential start-up to identify a VP of Software Engineering. This organization has the opportunity to profoundly impact millions of individual’s interactions with a core capability of the healthcare system. This role is tasked with leading and managing the direction of the technology organization, determine software product roadmap and overall tech-enabled direction of the company. The role is responsible for structure and growth of software operations.
KEY POSITION NOTES:
** Experience in FDA regulated environments such as biotechnology, pharma, and/or healthcare technology is required **
** This is a hybrid role and candidate can reside in San Diego or SF Bay Area **
** Team size of about ~15 with a few senior managers **
** Organizational size is ~100 **
** Compensation includes base + bonus + equity **
** Base range target is $250-300k with flexibility depending on experience **
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver strategic and operational direction for software and related technology.
- Provide leadership and direction for all development teams to identify knowledge management, training, and execution for all technical implementations.
- Develop and modify existing technology stack and drive implementation of new technologies/components.
- Focus on consistent delivery of high quality software and integration points that move the company towards achieving short and long term objectives.
- Implement and continuously iterate on the company’s Software Development and Security Development lifecycles.
- Foster an environment of innovation and execution utilizing delivery and testing best practices across the enterprise.
PEOPLE/TEAM LEADERSHIP:
- Plan staffing levels. Work with HR to recruit, interview, select, and hire an appropriate number of staff.
- Provide oversight and direction to department employees to align work with company OKRs according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff on a daily basis, including overseeing new hire onboarding, regular feedback, disciplinary actions, career development and opportunities.
- Delegate responsibilities and tasks with an expectation of accountability and regular feedback.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution. Support a work culture that appreciates cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related technology field
- 10 years of experience directly managing engineers or highly technical teams.
- Experience in early-stage / growth companies in biotech, pharma, healthcare, or tech.
- Demonstrated applied expertise in working within FDA regulated environments.
- Experience in working in an environment following Agile methodology
- Ability to work effectively in a complex, diverse and fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the organization’s management team that provides leadership and direction.
- Excellent problem solving capabilities and judgment with a detailed but flexible approach. Ability to make sound, scalable, decisions and create clear processes.
