About the Role

We are partnering  with an established investment firm is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Financial Reporting Manager to join its accounting leadership team based in San Diego, California. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this individual will play a key role in the preparation and oversight of timely, accurate financial reports and statements. The role involves close collaboration with both senior accounting personnel and executive leadership, along with coordination across internal teams and strategic stakeholders.

Compensation
Annual Salary: $130,000 – $160,000
Incentives: Annual bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package

 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support the compilation, analysis, and review of monthly and quarterly internal and external financial reports, including those for executive leadership, the board, financial institutions, and investors.
  • Lead the preparation of GAAP-compliant annual and quarterly financial statements (both consolidated and subsidiary-level) and coordinate with external auditors during audit and review cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with financial covenant requirements, including lender-defined calculations such as NOI. Collaborate with IT to develop automated reporting solutions as needed.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes to assess impact on financial reporting. Draft technical memos detailing accounting positions and implications.
  • Analyze key contracts and agreements to identify and address potential accounting concerns.
  • Participate in real estate acquisition and disposition activities, including coordination with internal teams and third-party advisors on closing documents and valuation allocations.
  • Oversee maintenance and customization of financial systems and reporting tools, including general ledger mapping and system-generated report configuration.
  • Provide financial reporting support for special projects and recurring internal initiatives.

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or related field
  • 5–8 years of financial reporting experience under GAAP, including Big Four public accounting firm experience
  • Experience auditing or working in an alternative investment firm (such as real estate) preferred 
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems; familiarity with enterprise software (e.g., MRI, Oracle, or BPC) is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; comfortable working in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
  • Proven ability to interpret and communicate technical accounting concepts, both verbally and in written form
  • CPA designation is preferred
