About the Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to join and lead their accounting team! As a trusted business partner, you will have certain responsibilities at the corporate level along with playing a key role for all the company’s subsidiaries. The ideal candidate has a combination of strong business acumen, technical and corporate finance and accounting knowledge, high attention to detail and organization, and excellent communication skills. The ability to work within a team, take initiative, and interact effectively with business partners and all levels of management is critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly financial close including, but not limited to, consolidation of financials, the review of month-end accounting reports, journal entries, accruals, variance analyses and reviews with management
  • Preparation of all SEC documents (including XBRL) for filing with outside vendors, including Form 10Q and 10K
  • Develop and maintain consistent and best practices for accounting policies and procedures supported by effective internal controls
  • Ensure annual audits are carried out effectively and efficiently for all business entities
  • Interact with external auditors to ensure all audit requests are completed accurately and timely
  • Work with outside tax consultant to provide all necessary documentation and schedules needed to determine the company’s corporate tax provision for all quarter end and year end closings
  • Assist with the annual budgeting and forecasting process
  • Analyze budget versus actual differences and provide insight as to root causes
  • Manage and work with the accounting team locally and at subsidiaries location
  • Research, as needed, accounting guidance and recent pronouncements that may have an impact on the Company’s financial reporting. Must possess the ability to understand and communicate to staff and management the implications of the applicable accounting guidance
  • Possess a high sense of urgency; prioritize as appropriate; work to streamline processes while improving quality, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Help improve and maintain a strong internal control environment over all financial transactions
  • Plan and coordinate testing for SOX compliance
  • Implements controls and procedures to ensure SOX compliance
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff – helping to create a positive and fun environment for the team
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in accountancy or finance required
  • CPA required
  • 4+ years public accounting; 3+ years’ experience with public company (Minimum of 7 years work experience minimum with prior management experience)
  • Strong public company reporting experience
  • Experience with effectively managing and mentoring team members
  • Experience with SOX guidelines and compliance
  • Previous experience with ERP systems and system implementations preferred
  • Highly motivated with ability to complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity, organizational and presentation skills
  • Understanding of GAAP and accounting theory
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and can provide detailed reporting using complex Excel spreadsheets
