About the Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a Director of Accounting who is responsible for managing multiple functions within Accounting including, but not limited to, General Accounting, Cost Accounting and Accounts Payable as well as managing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closes. This role is integral in supporting growth in the company and ensure accurate and timely accounting and analysis.


  • Oversee an accurate and timely month-end close process in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Company procedures, as well as pending or proposed changes in GAAP.
  • Manage accounting functions including the General Accounting, Cost Accounting and Accounts Payable teams and lead the strategic direction of those functions.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley for areas within scope including, but not limited to, General and Cost Accounting, Inventory, and Accounts Payable.
  • Supervise, train and develop staff including working with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and then monitor and advise on progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Ensure appropriate implementation of and compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Company policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Controller, CAO and Technical Accounting team with monitoring regulatory and accounting pronouncements that will affect the Company’s financial reporting requirements. Assist with assessment of impact and implementation of new accounting standards and prepare or review technical accounting memos as assigned.
  • Oversee the internal and external audit process for areas within scope, including quarterly reviews and the year-end audit.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of accounting automation and data analytics initiatives to improve business insights as well as identify areas of opportunities in Accounting.
  • Review and approve monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure the integrity of key processes by understanding systems, flow of transactions, and internal controls.
  • Identify areas of efficiencies to improve current processes and procedures and determine scalable solutions.
  • Foster working relationships cross-functionally.
  • Assist the Controller and CAO with special projects designed to achieve corporate performance objectives and respond to ad-hoc requests, including, but not limited to, participation in any debt offering, equity offering and M&A activities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Master’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Accounting including 3+ years of managerial experience.
  • ERP experience (Oracle preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in building and leading a team by delegating responsibilities, reviewing work, and developing talent.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships with others within and outside the Accounting team.
  • Exceptional learning, analytical, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Strong competencies with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and ability to quickly adapt, problem solve, and determine solutions to complex accounting and operational challenges. Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ambitious and self-directed.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Cost Accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Ability to travel as required by role. Some overnight travel may be required.
