Cloud Data Engineer

About the Opportunity:
Our team has partnered with an E-commerce company seeking a Cloud Data Engineer to join their Data Management team. This is a cross-functional role that reports directly into the CTO and offers the opportunity to re-architect their data into a new, clean environment with significant technical freedom in the process.

Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 DOE (flexible depending on experience)

Location: 100% remote, must be located in California, Texas, Washington, Florida, Tennessee, or New York

Responsibilities:
  • Craft and maintain an efficient data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large and complex data sets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline/flow architecture.
  • Identify, craft, and implement internal process improvements (automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for scalability, etc.)
  • Work with various stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs.
  • Strive for clean and meaningful data, as well as greater functionality and flexibility within the data systems.
  • Design processes that support the data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience deploying and maintaining always-on data services.
  • 2+ years in building data engineering pipelines in Azure (ADF, Databricks, or Synapse).
  • 2+ years in cloud data engineering experience in Azure.
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL Server.
 
Qualifications:
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL query authoring.
  • Experience working with streams such as Event Hubs and Event Driven Architectures.
  • Proficiency with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, C#, etc.
  • Experience with big data tools: Databricks, Spark, etc.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Experience cleaning, testing, and evaluating data quality from a wide variety of ingestible data sources.
