About the Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a strong Accounting Manager Consultant who will manage the general accounting function and acts as main point of contact for accounting inquiries. This role will be responsible for the monthly close cycle and generation of financial statements and will re-engineer processes and incorporate automation to maximize efficiency. This opportunity is ideally targeting a consultant who is open to a contract to hire conversion.

Duration: 3 months minimum. This opportunity is ideally contract-to-hire for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be able to come onsite 1 day per week minimum.


  • Supervises the work of accountant(s), assigning and reviewing work including training.
  • Performs complex accounting transactions related to areas of greatest sensitivity and risk to the institute, and prepares related schedules, statements, reconciliations and reports.
  • Prepares journal entries to record transactions into financial accounting system and makes necessary corrections, reviews journal entries for direct reports to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Audits and posts imported accounts payable and payroll summary journals into accounting software (MIP Abila).
  • Manages monthly financial close process and activities.
  • Assembles and provides financial information in support of annual financial audit and income tax preparation.
  • Generates monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reviews and approves expense reports.
  • Provides analytical assistance to other staff and senior management as requested.
  • Participates in ERP implementation (WorkDay) especially from a user acceptance and verification perspective and systems transition support.
  • Performs special projects as assigned

Qualifications & Expertise:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in accounting or business, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years related and progressively responsible professional experience with accounting principles and systems
  • Lead or supervisory experience highly desired.
  • Flexibility and ability to switch quickly from one project to another when dictated by business need.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to select appropriate means of communication in a given situation.
